2007 Undergraduates shine

Two interns from 2007 have been recognized for research they conducted while a part of the REU program.

Vivian Smith

Vivian Smith, who worked in Dr. Joss Rose’s lab, was recently awarded ‘Best Presentation’ at the Mississippi Academy of Sciences. Vivian beat out over a 100 other students for this prestigious award.

Jesse Seamon

Jesse Seamon presented his research at the 33rd Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference held at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. Jesse’s talk, entitled “Molecular biology using forward genetics to identify a mutant gene in the regulated exocytosis mutant strain SB281 of Tetrahymena thermophila,” was awarded ‘Best Presentation’ in the Molecular Biology Session I.

We would like to congratulate both of these students on their prestigious awards.
