The 10 chromosomes of maize showing the position of mapped Ac elements Current Status
(last updated 09/08/05). 60 mapped. New Ac elements recently added: Ac-bti41832 (4.07/4.08); Ac-bti42443 (8.01) Protocols have recently been added to website! The sequences flanking the mapped Ac elements were cloned using one of the following four protocols: iPCR-1, iPCR-2 (touchdown), iPCR-3 (long-range PCR), or AIMS (Amplified of Insertion Mutagenised Sites). Note that iPCR-2 and iPCR-3 are currently the most efficient protocols for cloning sequences flanking Ac elements. The
position of all active Ac elements has been confirmed by Southern
blot analysis unless otherwise noted.
A number of seed stocks are currently available through the Maize Genetics CoOp. Contact Tom Brutnell (tpb8@cornell.edu) for further details. This project is possible through the generous support of the National Science Foundation Plant Genome Research Program and Monsanto. (see Ac overview for full acknowledgements).
