Research Summary
Dr. Popescu is a research scientist at the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (http://www.inflpr.ro/) and a co-organizer of an advanced master program in imaging, bioinformatics and complex systems (http://items.pub.ro/index_en.html).
His research interest is in developing high-throughput assays, performing large scale genome and proteome analysis and designing novel modeling and simulation tools for genomics and proteomics studies. He is currently investigating the activity of several classes of newly synthesized anti-microbial drugs using molecular modeling and simulation methods. In particular, he is developing novel methods for the large-scale study of the relationship between structure and function of anti-microbial drugs.
Previously, his research has focused on generating new methods for the computational identification and analysis of MAPK signaling pathways, genome methylation patterns and the study of chromosomal aberration factors leading to developmental diseases.
