The Auditorium is available only during normal BTI business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Please respect our building and our staff. Keep the noise level to a minimum if you are using the Atrium as well as the Auditorium. Note: BTI employees and visitors will need access to the lobby area, restrooms and stairway.
Do not prop open any exit/entrance doors at any time. Exceptions include #5 below and the loading dock door, but these must be closed promptly after loading/unloading.
The auditorium air-conditioning is on a timer system and shuts off at night and on weekends. Unfortunately there is no override and the climate cannot be controlled from the auditorium. If the temperature is too warm in the auditorium, you may prop open the fire exit door located in the rear of the auditorium. The door MUST be closed before you leave the building.
We ask that you do not place any tables, displays or other items around the statue located in our atrium directly outside the auditorium doors. The statue belonged to the founder of Boyce Thompson Institute and is a very valuable piece of our history. An extra table may be set up along the wall to the right directly outside the Auditorium, or in the Atrium conference room. (Reservations required for use of the Atrium Room must also be made through Valleri Longcoy at 254-1357.)
Tables may not be set up in the hallway outside the Auditorium (to the left, across from the restrooms.) This passage must be clear in order to comply with fire regulations.
Boyce Thompson Institute is a non-smoking facility.
Please do not tape or tack anything to the walls.
Because this is an active research facility, all outside users are restricted to the area reserved.
Food and Beverage
BTI does not allow food or beverage in the auditorium but you may use the atrium area(s) for setting up refreshments.
Note: If you have a large group (30+) that will be breaking in the atrium area, please contact Valleri Longcoy about reserving the Atrium Conference Room as well. This will allow for more room and seating for your attendees and will prevent someone else from booking it for a meeting and being disrupted by the noise of your group.
You may use the large wooden table (under the portraits).
If you will need additional tables, you can move some from the Atrium Conference Room, providing you have reserved it ahead of time. Otherwise, you will have to make arrangements with Valleri prior to your event, to have tables moved to the Atrium.
We ask that you dispose of all garbage generated by your event. This includes trays, cups, plates, boxes, disposable coffee urns, cans, bottles, etc. If your trash exceeds the capacity of the garbage can in the Atrium, please take it to our dumpster located on the western side of the building outside the greenhouses.
All caterers must be licensed and insured with Cornell.
ERSONS AND GROUPS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FUTURE USE OF THE BTI FACILITY.
