by | Dec 9, 2005

The Lawrence Bogorad Molecular Plant Biology Award was established to honor and celebrate scientist and longtime BTI Board member Lawrence Bogorad. The award is given annually to an outstanding BTI postdoctoral fellow.

Selection for the award is based on publications, other research accomplishments, presentations, honors, and awards. The award is intended to recognize research excellence in postdoctoral scientists at BTI and carries a modest cash prize.

Co-recipient Tom Bollenbach is a research associate in the Stern lab. He serves as lab manager, training new people and overseeing the lab. Tom has published five papers from 2003 to 2005. He is also an active member of the BTI Post-Graduate Society and serves on the BTI internal seminar committee.

Rongcheng Lin, this year’s other recipient, is a postdoctoral associate in Haiyang Wang’s lab where he acts as lab manager and plays an important role in training new members of the lab. In 2004 and 2005 Rongcheng was exceptionally productive, with five published papers, including two for which he was the primary author. Rongcheng also serves on the BTI internal seminar committee.
