On September 20, 2005 Cornell professor Jim Bell of the Mars Exploration Rover mission spoke about the images and aesthetics of roving on Mars at the first Science Cabaret.

Ithaca's Science Cabaret was inspired by the Cafe Scientifique movement, which started in Europe in the late 1990s and has spread rapidly. Cafes Scientifiques are informal talks in bars, cafes and other public venues that give like-minded people a chance to discuss current and sometimes controversial topics in science. In Ithaca we meet one Tuesday a month at the Lost Dog Cafe on 112 North Cayuga St. The Ithaca Science Cabaret is organized by local professors, graduate students and members of the Ithaca community.

Science Cabaret is open to anyone and everyone. While not all topics may be of interest to children, they are welcome to attend. Bring your appetite for food, drinks and knowledge!
