Inish M. G. O'Doherty, Graduate Student

Inish is a member of the Training Program in Chemical Biology (TPCB) and is an O'Reilly foundation scholar. He received his undergraduate B.Sc in chemistry in 2007 from University College Dublin, Ireland. Currently he is investigating the design, synthesis and application of small molecule probes for receptor identification in model systems, including human cell culture and C.elegans. When he is not in the lab crushing science, Inish enjoys taking part in triathlons, doing crossfit, cooking and hanging out with friends.

Parag Mahanti, Graduate Student

Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Parag is working on the identification of endogenous ligands of the nuclear hormone receptor DAF-12 and elucidation of the steroid biosynthetic pathway in C. elegans. He completed his BSc. Hons. degree in Chemistry from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, India in 2006 and MSc. In Organic Chemistry from University of Delhi, India in 2008. When he is not playing with the worms Parag likes to play the guitar, write his blog, cook and listen to Pink Floyd.

Joshua Judkins, Graduate Student

Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Ohio Northern University, B.S in Biochemistry, 2009. Joshua is currently working on the synthesis and functional characterization of steroidal ligands of nuclear hormone receptors in C. elegans. Josh is an avid Little Monster (Lady Gaga fan) and is also active in the Cornell LGBT community.

Yevgeniy Izrayelit, Graduate Student

Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Vassar College, B.A. Biochemistry, 2006. Yevgeniy is interested in exploring aging relevant pathways in the model organism C. elegans using 2D NMR-based metabolomics. Yevgeniy is also involved with campus governance as part of the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, and enjoys telling jokes/stories that you might have heard before (from him).

Carolyn Hale, Graduate Student

Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cell Biology (BMCB). Graduated from St. John Fisher College in 2009 with B.S. in Biology and B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry. As a member of the Nicholson lab and Schroeder Lab, Carolyn is synthesizing small molecular mimics of a motif of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) in order to investigate the molecular signaling in the proteolytic processing of APP and its implications for Alzheimer's Disease.

Joshua A. Baccile, Graduate Student

Chemistry and Chemical Biology. SUNY Cortland, B.S. Chemistry, 2011. Josh’s research focuses on combining organic chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology to investigate fungal secondary metabolism. If at all Josh is not in lab, he is probably on his boat enjoying beautiful Cayuga Lake.

Joshua Yim, Research Assistant

Josh synthesizes small molecules found in C. elegans and other model nematode species for structural verification and biological testing. Josh enjoys digital and film photography and can occasionally be seen with a camera in lab.
